Default Kicking the soda addiction!

Okay, fine. I've never been *addicted* to soda. But I really think I ought to stop drinking it.

Unfortunately, my mom brought home a case of root beer yesterday. I've only had one so far, but... bah!

How did YOU stop drinking soda? Or do you think you need to?

I'm trying to kick coca-cola. I tell me I can only drink it at dancepractice and if necesarry at work. Not at home.
Of course it's necessary a lot at work but it's getting better.

Is it the calories in the soda or the caffiene that you want to kick? Or both?

I kicked the soda habit by having coffee... not the best trade-off!

I did well by switching to a non-caffinated soda while I got off of that 'drug' and then switched to fruit punch or other flavored drink to get in the sugar, and then (finally) went to a non-sweetened drink, like flavored teas with Splenda.

Put the case somewhere where you don't see it and stash bottles of water everywhere

I'm a big fan of doing it the cold turkey way. Actually, I was doing really well until someone brought home a case of Coke and I decided to have one with a burger. Time to cut it back out.

I find that if I'm getting plenty of water (96 ounces seems to be my feel good target), the urge to drink anything else is almost nil. I've given up drinking milk (cow's) by drinking enough water and now I just need to jump back on the water bandwagon to kick the Coke.

I haven't had any today. I think today's the day to start.

GetOffMySkittle & Katkero, I wish you guys luck! When you have the urge to grab some soda, kick it the FlyLady way - you can do anything for 15 minutes at a time! Do something else for 15 minutes, and you'll probably forget that you ever wanted a........ oooh, that's a 4-letter word!

I kicked the soda habit before.See,my parents would buy soda and we would have soda at home every day.But usually,it was brands of soda I didn't like much.I decided to quit those sodas and on the special occassions that we would get good soda (I only allowed myself Pepsi and Coke),I would drink up.I don't know if this would work for you if you don't depend on your parents to buy you soda,but it worked for me and made me feel a lot better.

You can have your favorite soda once in a while and have water the rest of the time.Or,if you *must* have sweetness,try natural fruit drinks instead.

As for me,I want to give up the soda again.I think it is one of the easiest ways to lose weight.Unfortunately,I'm having a Coke craving now.

What do you all think of diet soda? I only drink Coke zero or other diet sodas, so I'm not too concerned about the calories. But, I've heard bad things about aspartame. I have also heard that these artifical sweeteners can make you more hungry.
I dont think I could cut them out though. Sometimes I just want a sweet carbonated drink that nothing else can cut.

Artificial sweeteners give me heart palpitations. It's a surefire way for me to tell if there's fake sugar in something. LOL It's not so bad that I absolutely can't drink it, but it's enough to worry me.

It's really too bad because my favorite way to drink iced tea is with Equal.
