Default Stevia

Does anyone use stevia as an alternative to sugar? Liquid or powder? If powder - green or white?

Any recommendations on brand or a good place to buy?

Hi Ocean Waves!

I've been using stevia for a couple of years. Basically for coffee. The brand I usually buy is Sweetleaf Stevia Plus.
The taste does take a little getting used to. But- it doesn't leave a bitter aftertaste (just a slightly sweet aftertaste), and it's better for you (IMHO) than Equal.

HTH!

I have some liquid stevia. Like KK said, it takes some getting use to. One of my bottles is plain ol' liquid stevia, the other is BUTTERSCOTCH flavored! YUM!

I use it every now and then, in my own blend of powdered chai tea. I have a friend who loves my chai tea, but can't have sugar, so I make it for her. I get mine at the health food store here. It's expensive, so the next time we get to Denver, I'll stock up at the health food store there. I usually get my cardamom there too, it's the price of gold here in Casper.

Thanks for the replies Ladies!
I like my tea sweet but I'd like to cut back on the amount of sugar I use.

My mom uses Stevita brand stevia. That is her favorite, she doesn't like the taste or aftertaste of some others. Its a white powder.
I don't know where she gets it, it could be just a regular grocery store...the one from the health food store near us she didn't like. She buys a lot of vitamins online, so she might get it there. I don't think its a bad price compared to some of the other brands (?), I may be wrong.
Good luck with it! It seems a very good healthy alternative to sugar and sugar substitutes. My mom is a nutritionist, so I figure she knows what she's doing ;-) I don't use it though.

I have some liquid stevia - I think it's by Spectrum. I've found that less is definitely more with stevia, otherwise I get an icky bitter taste. It works very well, though, and is a great alternative. I love it.

I also use the SweetLeaf stevia, they are the most health minded and natural stevia company I have found. A lot of the other companies use cheap fillers or alcohol, or glycerine which I do not like in my body. The SweetLeaf steviaplus is my favortite because they add an FOS inulin fiber to their stevia powder and that helps your body to fight off candida by helping the Bifoda, or "good bacteria" in the body take over the growth of the "bad bacteria" naturally. The flavors in their liquid stevia are great too. I add a little apricot or vanilla to my water and tea or put a few drops of the lemon in my ice cube trays with a mint leaf so I get lemon/mint ice-cubes. Check out http://www.sweetleaf.com/category.ph...t=where_to_buy
and type in your address and it will give you the closest store in your area that sells Sweetleaf stevia, or www.sweetleaf.com
