Default Are magnetics always like this?

Im new to all this fancy effect stuff and im wondering if magnetic polish is always so flukey? I did my test swatch it was over an old mani i needed to take off i did one coat let it touch dry then did the sencond and did the magnet for a count of 30 got a strong result.

So last night i go to do a fresh one over two layers of base coat and one coat of very dry magnetic. My pinky perfect after the 30 count my next 3 nails crapola doing the exact same thing. Then half my thumb cmae out well the other half crap.

How can my quickie swatch come out better than hen im actually trying? Im thinking of just blowing off the directions and not letting that first coat get so dry. I got another color today that i liked and i got the star magnet which will look better as an accent nail than the one i have. That way i dont have to worry about getting 10 fingers to come out just so. If that works maybe i'll just stick to designs i can use that way like hearts and such. I am feeling a bit defeated right now i dont plan to give up on it just not sure if ten crisp designs are realistic.

I have the same exact problem, no matter which brand I use, they all seem to be the same. Although I do find it works better for me if I do one thick coat, instead of letting one coat dry and then doing another coat.
