Great thread.
I used to go with "square creases," but the finishing chemicals bother me.
Now they get a wash and hang before use, as do massage sheets.

Because of this thread, I caught two of my male buddies dropping new sheets on the bed straight from the package. Hilarious.

EWWWWWW!!!!! I just bought a new quilt set and it STILL smells chemical-ly after washing and drying with a scented softener sheet.

HEY IT FINALLY LET ME REPLY!!!!

*ahem*

I always wash new sheets. But then again, I am a chronic sheet-washer. I have to be able to discern a fresh-from-the-wash scent at all times or I can't sleep on them.

I hate not-clean linen. The bad thing is that since my health declined I can only change my sheets twice a month. The good thing is, it's only ME sleeping on them and i'm a very clean person. And they are HEAVY 1000TC Egyptian cotton, the thickness of a thin blanket. My mattress is very tall, so I only have the one set of sheets that fit, so I have to wash them and put them right back on the bed. When I wash Cyk's sheet (king size bed) I make him help me make up his bed. Bwahahahaha!

I wash them first too. I usually use very faint or not scented at all detergents and fabric softeners, the only scent I can handle in any strength is bleach.

I usually always wash them first, however since we moved and now have a king sized bed and no washer/dryer I did have to sleep on them the first night without washing them since they were the only sheets I had I haven't had any reaction to not washing things right away though. Sometimes if I buy a really cute new top or skirt I can't help but wear it right away (gross I know >.<)

I think clothes are different, unless they are from a thrift shop. I rarely wash new clothes first, unless they are ordered online and arrive in a package, wrinkled.

I always wash them and anything else new before using. The formaldhyde and other preservatives wreak havoc on my skin and lungs. Plus ive seen where that stuff is made you dont want to sleep on it once youve seen where that bolt of fabric has been laying.....
