Default The Official TBB Use Up Your Stash Challenge!

There is one of these threads over on LHC but I thought we could start one here. I've put it in the hair section but really it can include face, body and makeup products. Even non-beauty products such as teas/coffees - it's up to you!

List your stash of shame and try to use them up! Staples/"holy grail" products are allowed repeat-buys. It's up to you if you include them.

Good luck!

My list:

HAIR

SHAMPOO:
  • 1 bottle TresSemme Naturals Aloe & Jojoba Shampoo
Half a bottle of Boots HE Shine Shampoo - almost gone, about 100ml
Anelco Beer 2 in 1 shampoo & condish - about 100ml. I quite like this.
    IT& LY Chelating shampoo

CONDITIONER/TREATMENTS:
  • 2 large bottle TresEmme Naturals Aloe & Jojoba Conditioner - staple
    Tesco Coconut condish - staple

LEAVE-INS/OILS/ADDITIVES ETC:
  • Small bottle Baby Oil, about 75ml left
    Argan Oil
    Mango butter
Keratin, Silk Protein and Wheat Protein Solutions

FACE

CLEANSERS:
  • Lush Ultrabland – half used
    Malki Dead Sea Sulphur Soap
    2 x Sanctuary Scrub

TONERS/FLORAL WATERS:
  • Frankincense Floral Water Toner
    Distilled Witch Hazel

MASKS:
  • Sanctuary Self-heating Mud mask
    Dr Hauschka Revitalising Mask

MOISTURISERS /GELS:
  • 1x 500ml Aloe Vera Gel
    Lavera Eye Cream tube
2x 200ml Aloe Pura Sun lotion
    Lavera Moisturiser & Night Cream
Dr Hauschka Normalising Day Oil – half used
    Peach Kernel Oil

LIP CARE:
  • Dr Hauschka Lip Balm - GONE!
    Lush Lip Sevice Lip Balm
    Lush Whipstick
    Gwdihw Lavender Balm
    Sensitive Skincare Co. Peppermint Balm
- I seem to have a problem with lipbalms...

MISC. ADDITIVES
  • Vegetable Glycerin
    Grapefruit Seed Extract

ESSENTIAL OILS:
  • Arnica
    Attar Khus (Vetiver & Sandalwood)
    Benzoin
    Bergamot
    Blue Chamomile
    Clove Bud
    Cypress
    Frankincense
    Ginger
    Helichrysum
    Labdanum
    Lavender
    Lime
    Mandarin
    Neroli
    Oakmoss
    Rose
    Sage
    Sandalwood
    Tea Tree
    Vitamin E

BODY

SOAPS:
Lush Noubar – half used
4x Dove Extra Sensitive bars - as the soap was aggravating my eczema!

BODY LOTION:
  • Dead Sea Spa body Lotion - GONE!!
E45 Cream and Lotion - lots of this, staple

DEODORANT/SPRAYS:
  • Sure Antiperspirant - thrown out! - GONE!!
    Bionsen Japanese Sea Minerals Deodorant
    Lush Coconut powder deodorant

PERFUME:
  • Body Shop Orange Blossom Finishing Mist
Lush Breath of God Eau de Toilette
Lush The Smell of Freedom solid perfume

Now that's embarrassing I haven't included make up or nail polish as I can't face it LOL. I don't have lots of those, but they are gathering dust...

ETA: 28/10/2012 I updated this list a bit. I'll re-post it when I make some more obvious progress....

Even though my stash is pretty small, I don't want to be buying more products until I use up what I have (especially with eyeshadows even though probably all of them are past their expiration date-my aunt got them for me in Ukraine and mom brought them over when she went there to visit our relatives). So, here goes

Hair
  • Suave Naturals Soothing Lavender Lilac shampoo and conditioner (both in use and are the only bottles of shampoo/conditioner I have)
Face (really wanting to switch to OCM due to expired moisturizer but don't want to be wasting money by wasting current products)
  • Clearasil Daily Face Wash (I think I'm almost out of this one)
  • Dickinson Witch Hazel toner
  • Equate Apricot Scrub (with darned SLS in it)
Makeup (most of it is too old to continue using, but it's a waste of product, especially considering it was a gift)
  • Covergirl Professionals non-waterproof mascara
  • Covergirl Pressed Powder foundation
  • 4 Eyeshadow duos from Ukraine
  • Two reconstituted with water nail polish bottles (also bought in Ukraine)
And my shaving cream that's currently in use

OMG I cannot join in on this thread. I would develop carpal tunnel syndrome by the time I finished listing everything....

Omg Justy you crack me up!

Ok I can join this thread I guess. I just threw away some stuff today, I know that sounds horrible but it was stuff that my hair actually hated! I mean there was no way I was using this stuff again so I guess that makes it a little better

Now stuff that my hair likes that I need to use up is:

1. Almond oil
2.Emu oil
3.Mira hair oil
4. Grapeseed oil
5. Suave Natural aloe vera and gensing condishioner
6. A Garnier condish that is for volume and cg friendly
7. lavender eos
8. cedar wood eos
9.rosemary eos
10. sage eos
11. tea tree eos
12. GVP conditioning balm-Sallys
13. Garnier fructos pure and clean gel

Ok so I think thats it. I really do use all of these products but for no good reason I havent really been using the Emu oil, grapeseed oil, and almond oil. My hair likes them execpt I havent tried the grapeseed yet. But I plan on starting ocm so I may be using it soon!

I'm with justy on this one, and I think I really ought to plead the fifth (refusing to speak because anything I say may incriminate me).

On the other hand, a few years ago, I was having trouble with dry skin on my hands, and realized that my hands responded well to L'occitaine's Milk soap, so I bought a few bars during Sephora's Friends and Family sale. The first bar lasted me just over a year. The second, having been aged for a year or two before first use, lasted me almost 22 months. (Seriously. Started using it in January of 2010, and it wore down to a transparent sliver that broke this past week.) The trick, apparently, is to get it wet and lather up, but to avoid letting any water puddle in the soap dish, which leads the soap to melt.

At this rate, I'll have used up my stash of hand washing bar soaps by 2016.

Geeeeeeesh. I forgot all about my bar soap stash and I just added about 12 bars to it a month ago. Seriously, I'm off to the bathroom with a pad of paper and a pencil...

That's too funny what you say about soap Justy. I guess compared to some of you here I'm doing pretty well. This weekend is makeup experimentation weekend on my shopping day, so I might be adding a few makeup items to my stash but if I do I'll get rid of my eyeshadow. That and my nail polish bottles are way too old to continue to be using and I'm nearly out of the lighest shade on two eyeshadow duos anyway. That lighest shade will get used up before the eyeshadow duos get pitched.

Nail polish doesn't go bad, you do know that, right? Get some Seche Restore, and it will recover, even if it's dried up. (follow the link for a tutorial, with pictures)

Most powdered eye shadow doesn't go bad either, so long as you've used care to keep from contaminating it (using a clean applicator each time, etc.) I've had a few that lost something in their old age and stopped applying correctly, but most are still just fine, and some of mine are pretty aged.

(Not trying to stop you tossing things you really don't want, but I'd hate for you to ditch something irreplaceable just because you'd heard you were 'supposed to' toss things after a particular time frame. Mostly, I think that's misinformation spread by the cosmetics companies to keep people buying product, and yes, I do think they'd sink that low. Money is money, after all.)

Might be too late Delila. Last time I reconstituted it, I used regular old tap water to make it thinner. Not sure what that did and a few months went by since then. I make water it down a bit and test it out tomorrow to see how it works. It's nearing the end of the tube anyways.

I'm with you though on replacing products after a certain time frame. If you were sharing them with someone else, then maybe, otherwise I doubt it. How many bacteria get in them between the dipping/swipping of brush/wand!?

Also, for as long as I had that eyeshadow (since 2007), I only had the little applicators that came with it. The eyeshadow duos themselves were part of little makeup kit that includes the nail polish, blush and lipstick (that I still haven't finished and haven't used for a few months during which I've been using my lip glosses). It was only recently that I got a new set of eyeshadow applicators because the old ones got torn.
