Default Purple, Can't Wear it!

Is there anyone else who cannot wear purple? I can't. It clashes. I also can't wear yellows or oranges at all. There a few select shades of purple I can get away with. And I have no idea what they are. I usually need someone to tell me-- its something too sublte to my eye unlike the obvious, "wow, that yellow sure does look bad on me" type of observation.

I don't get it though, and that confuses me. I recently was doing some research on color analysis. According to the book I have, I am summer. I have had this confirmed before. Ok. This book says I am a cool summer-- I have grey eyes, and very pale skin with pink and blue undertones (mostly pink) and just a few freckles (pales ones). Except they want my hair to fit in one of their color categories and it doesn't. My hair is a ginger shade-- I guess it could be called that or cinnamon or something. Its this brownish reddish shade. But it isn't auburn. And it isn't that dark. But I'm not a spring or an autumn, since I am a cool, and not a winter. I suppose I should stop worrying over those silly rules, its just that they would fit well if I could make sense of the purple thing.

I figured purple would tend to be a cool color? And if red isn't that bad to wear, depending on the shade, why can't I wear purple? Any ideas?

It's the roll of the genes dice. I am olive complected and have auburn brown hair that does NOT do my complection any favors. Both my parents are/were blondes, so I got my hair color from my paternal grandmother. Therefore, I highlight.

I can wear red, pale pinks, pale yellows , navy blue, brown, black, white , but not fond of purple.

I really like purple and only have one blouse with purples in it. I guess it's a color I admire more on others than myself. Although purple really suits me.
I am a blue lover though, with blue based burgandy as another favorite and navy and greens also being the majority of my wardrobe colors.

Purple is my favourite colour, I would be so devastated if someone said I couldn't wear it. For me it is the best colour in the world

I dont think everyone fits into the summer, winter categories etc.

You seem to have a combination of summer and spring (hair)..maybe even more.

It does not depend on whether you are a summer or a winter type..whatever colors you like on yourself should be fine ...

Im sureyou will find it easier to wear purple if also the rest of the outfit is matched..meaning a bright purple + a casual jeans = leather accessories and smoky Make up should make purple chic on everyone

Just play with what you have in your closet, you dont have to go for purple all over, start with a top maybe.

Try lavender or an ashy light violet.

Try a bluer purple? I love purple, myself, and I can't wear orange or yellow either.

I cannot wear purple either. It's a very rare occasion I can too! The one thing I have found over the years is a Deep Plum Velvet Blazer that actually does not make me look too bad.
It's the only thing purple I have been able to wear since I can remember.

I am very fair with blue/grey/green eyes. Also blond.
