Default Clothes for busty women in the US?

Hey, all. Does anyone have suggestions for where to find or how to modify clothes for a very large bust (38 H) that doesn't involve buying outside of the US?

In the past, I've bought shirts that were made of stretchy, thick fabric, but those have been out of style for years, and I can't find anything that isn't a T-shirt that even comes close to fitting me. I know there are a couple places in the UK that cater to busty women, but my current financial situation doesn't really allow for overseas shipping, customs, and the relative value of the dollar versus the pound.

I can sew a little bit, enough to do basic tailoring, but taking in shoulders is beyond me, so buying to fit my bust and then taking everything else in isn't an option. Plus, even when I can get the right size around my chest, the front hemline is inches higher than the back, the side hems are pulled way forward at the bust, and any decoration that's supposed to sit below the bustline sits just below my nipples.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to replace my falling-apart tops for at least half a year, and it's gotten very depressing. Even looking online hasn't helped, since all the articles I can find on dressing a "busty" body are for people who wear D-cups. So, in addition to not being able to find clothes, I feel rather like a freak.

What's your price range? Are we talking curvier everywhere or just up top? Lane Bryant is a plus sized store that has some very nice clothes, even if the rest of the shirts are a bit big you can have them tailored or else take them in yourself a bit.

Edit: 100th post and I didn't even realize! woot

I meant just on top, or at least significantly moreso on top than anywhere else (the rest of my body hovers on the line between regular and plus sizes). My real problem is that my bust is about three sizes larger than my shoulders, which makes finding anything to fit both very difficult.

Lane Bryant is where I get my bras, but their shirts still have a bust-to-everything-else ratio that's too small for me. The couple times I've bought shirts there, thinking they might work, I've gotten compliments on my "lovely maternity clothes" that "hardly make it look pregnant at all."

I feel your pain, im a 36f and have to buy a size 18 to fit my boobs, yet im only a size 12 (UK) on the bottom, if it fits my boobs i look fatter than i am because it is way too big on my waist and if i get stretchy tops it makes my boobs look even bigger. Dresses are a big no no unless i get them altered which costs a fortune, i could cut them off at times i really could.

my mom and I had a great time shopping in the plus size shop "Torrid" - it's designed to be sexy, stylish, and cute, not maternity or matronly looking. I'm right on the border of plus size too - usually too big for trendy clothes, but too small for much plus size - so I have learned to hit all kinds of different shops. I bet Torrid would have cute shirts that would fit...

Try a body shapers from NY&Co and wear them under shirts that you can unbutton the straining buttons. I think they would look cute that way. I would think you could do the same with a shirt dress and a cami underneath. Another option would be to purchase fabric and have someone make your clothes to fit - yes it would probably be more expensive then ready made but you would get the fit you want. I would rather have one very well made and fitted suit than five of the rack that don't fit properly.
