TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

I've found all my most recent purses there. Look at all the stock, and just browse for a while, and you'll get a sense of which ones are the cheap-o brands they keep to fill the racks, and which ones are the actual great-products-at-a-discount.

I buy most of my purses from Ross, Marshall's and TJMaxx. They have name brand purses and prices that are a LOT better than department stores.

I've also found some nice purses at Kohl's, but theirs tend to be more trendy (and not as long lasting - fashion speaking). I tend to by less trendy purses. If everyone is carrying a certain type of purse, you can almost guarantee I won't buy one, even if I like them. I don't want to look like everyone else!

I hope that helps!

Yes to all the above suggestions. Check Target too. But their bags ARE cheapies. They won't last like a really good bag. Also check the sale racks at the good department stores. If you want a black bag now would be the time to look for one on sale.

I got my purse at JCPenney two years ago for $15, it still looks good and people compliment it all the time.

I love Penney's purses, I think I own about 6 of them. One of them is the pink Bisou Bisou croc purse, for breast cancer awareness. Now my pink razr matches it. <snarky grin>

Having just been on the grand purse search myself - check for that thread - but those responses were pricey. I ended up with a black cross body from Tignanello from Macy's. After sale and coupons it was about $30. Many pockets and nice leather - they have lots of styles to choose from. http://www.tignanello.com/
I would also check out ebay, if you find a brand you like.

The last purse I bought, I found at Goodwill! People give good stuff to them all the time. It might be worth a peek if you have a Goodwill store near you.

I like purses from JC Penney, too.
They are usually cute but not too expensive.
