Default Parasols

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this but my question is relatively fashion related, so I'll put it here.

Now, spring is coming up in a month or so (I plan early lol) and I'm one of those people who'll go out in SPF 50 sunscreen, and am planning on getting UPF clothing and stuff. And it struck me that a parasol would be very handy. I've thought about the one at coolibar http://www.coolibar.com/04107.html and for practicality reasons, I would get it. But I kinda would rather have something a bit more... stylish? Perhaps a purple parasol wouldn't protect as much as the reflective silver one, but I've been surfing the net for something decently sturdy and not plain and haven't come accross anything.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else use/want to use parasols?

ETA: Do these seem good? http://www.houserice.com/silkparasols.html
or perhaps these? https://www.sarasparasols.com/nylon_parasols.html

I have one of those (parasols), not from that website, but same thing. My daughter has a purple one and I have a light green one. Her's provides more shade than mine, and I have gotten sunburned through it.

I have been looking into more fashionable umbrellas (there are some really cute ones out there), but haven't found one yet that I really want.

I just use a big black golf umbrella. At one festival, I was the only one when I got there, but I got alot of "gee, that's a good idea" copycats by the end of the day! (it was in the nineties)

I have a UV protective Parasol (bought in Japan), it is wonderful to use, unless I am being an absentminded clod and forget it. Looking at some Japanese based online stores may give a larger selection.

Mine is cotton, manual folding and pretty strong but will not stand up to rain though.

From one of the NYC meets, this is what my parasol looks like:

mira-chan, do you know about how much that parasol cost you, in USD? I could get just a plain probably flimsy parasol for $10, but that last site I posted sells them made from Solarweave, and I imagine that cost me about $50, maybe a bit more, which isn't too much an incredible amount but twice what the one at coolibar is... maybe I could get the coolibar one and decorate it! Perhaps sew a fringe on the edge...

Yours is lovely!

I have one of these in black, it's an umbrella but I use it for all seasons.

Here is a link to more parasols. Pretty hand held folding fans, too.

This is so weird it was only yesterday I found a pink Parasol/Umbrella made of UV resistant fabric I'm going to go back and buy one because it's such a great idea
I used to use an ordinary Umbrella but then I found out the UV rays go through the material so these special UV ones are a great idea

in regular fabric, tightly woven black fabric has a higher spf than a white gauze. Don't know much about UV fabrics, but if you can't afford the UV, black umbrella is a cheaper option.

Added bonus is that it's always a good 10 degrees cooler under my brolly!
