Staples:
tank tops--in as many colors as I can find
cotton skirts--either short or long--I don't do in between
jeans--yes I wear them in the summer too
I look dreadful in shorts--but I do own a few pairs
sun dresses if I can find them
sandals
bathing suit (if I must)
sunglasses
broad brimmed straw hat
Mineral Makeup (instead of suncreen)
funky new hand bag (just got a great one yesterday)
ficcares!

My favorite times of the year are spring (for the great smell of the earth and flowers) and fall, for the crispness of the air. I also love winter, because in most years (alas not this one) it rains in the winter. Summer is my least favorite season because I am off work (which sounds great--but I am stuck at home in the heat, I have no money, and I have a bored 11 year old!), and it can get blazingly hot here. If the weather's nice (meaning generally low 90s or lower) I enjoy summer--except for the above! It's interesting that other folks don't have summer as their favorite.

*adds sundresses to list*

And if my pink dress shows anything, sundresses aren't hard to make. So if you have a sewing machine you can try to go find a pattern and a fabric that is 'you' and give making one a shot..then you'd have something truly unique and fun

Summer really isn't a favorite of mine at all..I don't like hot weather and can't stand it when it's humid. I LOVE autumn when I'm somewhere the leaves change (..somewhere it is really pretty. Somewhere that is NOT florida) and winter is lovely (for the snow. Not in florida) and I love all the new blossoms in spring. I adore spring weather when it's just warming up and it's not raining

enitsirk, great idea, making your own sundress! I may give that one a shot, perhaps in a figure-friendly jersey. I am an autumn girll ALL the way, and it is especially glorious here in Nova Scotia (4 VERY distinct seasons here! ) funny thing, a large part of our tourism revolves around the Fall Foliage trips...it really is spectacular.

I am off to search out dress patterns, thanks for the inspiration!

wavebaby-
I want pictures when you are done (or almost done) ..or even when you get the pattern

Pictures of my still-not-hemmed-pretty-pink-dress

It makes my boobs look small but I still like it..and it was only the second thing I've made so I'm proud

I have a few must-haves. Most of them are warm weather related b/c it's pretty rare that we ever get below 65F around here. Perhaps there is one 60F degree day in January... but that's about it. Anyway...

Things I couldn't live without:
-Long, flowing skirts. Lightweight cotton, linen... paired with a tank top and sandals, I just adore them!

-Short skirts or skorts. I don't have very many skorts, but I do have quite a few knee-length skirts made from lightweight fabric... and even two jean ones. These are my answer to shorts (which I don't wear).

-Sandals. I live in them... every, single day. I have an ancient pair of Birks that I have just about wore holes through b/c I wear them all of the time and pair of blue adidas sandals that I wear with jeans.

-Tank tops. Cotton, lycra, spandex, blends. I have a ton. Some have patterns, some are plain. I'm usually in one just about every day (excluding work, of course).

-Sweaters (for layering- button front). I own lots of sweaters of assorted colors and styles to layer over all of those tanktops... b/c the AC down here tends to be on freeze!

-Items such as a great tote, sunglasses, sunscreen, hairband, hairtie, hairpins, lipgloss.

Things that I wear now and then:
-Capri or cropped pants. I consider these work wear. They aren't as comfy or cool (as in temperature 'cool') as a long skirt and most of the ones.

-Jeans. During cooler weather, I actually wear jeans quite a bit... always paired with sandals.

Things that I rarely (or never wear):
-Shorts. Other than for fitness, I don't step into shorts of any kind of daily-wear shorts (khaki colored ones or jorts).

-Heels. I am not a high-heel kind of gal. Too hot and not coordinated enough. I stick with heels that are 2" or less.

-Dresses. I don't care for dresses. They always feel too formal to me.
