Default Serums vs. Creams

I have a sample of Redken's Blonde Glam Crystal Flash serum, and it's been awesome with my hair. I tried Garnier's Long and Strong cream leave-in, and it left my hair gummy and tangled, as did Dove's Smooth and Soft Anti-Frizz Cream. (For the record, my hair is 2a/2b-M-iii, and normal/oily.)

Has anyone else found serums to be better than creams?

I love serums although they do pull my curls out mostly. That Redken one sounds great! Amazing how a simple product like a serum can be so different from another.

Many creams tend to feel heavy and icky in my hair....so I have to be careful with the amount

I think a cream would be heavier and stickier than a serum so it makes sense to me that you had that result. I think of a serum as a lighter more liquidy substance and a cream as being heavier and thicker. A face serum is light and syrupy in consistancy, while a cream is opaque, heavy and thick. If you look at the color of the serum versus the cream, the serum will be clearish and the cream more opaque. I think they serve a purpose depending on your hair type and what you want the product to do.

I have much better luck using the creams/lotions on dry hair.

I still don't understand how to make creams work. Prefer serums or anything that is 'watery'.

I use creams on wet hair. For some reason, they give me a lot of slip and make it easier for me to detangle. I only use serums on dry hair as a heat protectant or for shine.

I'm a member of a LiveJournal community for sampling. The samples range from beauty products, to household stuff, to magazines, to anything in between.
I got the Blonde Glam samples, and they were huge.
The URL for the community is here. To join, you will need to a) have an LJ account, and b) join the community.
