Huh Onions and Henna

Lol, wierd combination there, huh?

Basically, I love cooking with onions, but after chopping them, my hands always retain that wierd "onion" smell for a couple days afterwords. Really irritating. Doesn't matter what I wash with either, the scent won't go away until it wears off.

Well, tonight I'm planning to henna my hair, and I usually don't wear gloves. I don't mind my palms turning orange for a few days, and I feel like it strengthens my nails really well. I'm wondering though, what do y'all think, how the henna will affect the onion smell I've got on my palms? I don't know if it will intensify, or neutralize it. I've considered adding a couple drops of clove and orange essential oils to the leftover henna and coating my palms in that, to see if it would help more. What do you think?

Lemon juice will get the onion smell off. I don't think it would affect the henna at all anyway I would think the henna smell would over power the onion smell. BTW onion juice is supposed to be good for hair growth! Google it!

I love the smell of henna!
To remove onion smell, I rub a stainless steel spoon--any stainless steel thing will work-- all over my stinky skin under running water. I don't know how or why it works, but it does!

I'd be afraid of that henna on my hands! Let me know how many days you end up wearing it. Glove are a pain. (I hennaed my nails--very carefully--once, and was stuck with the color until they grew out.)

Thank you both. So far the henna is all I can smell on my hand.

As far as how long the stain lasts, on skin, with brief exposure, maybe 2-5 days, less if you scrub and exfoliate frequently. Nails, basically you're stuck with it until it grows out. Same with hair, but hair will eventually fade if you don't re-henna it.

I rub my hands on the stainless steel tap after chopping onions, and I have never noticed a lingering scent. Garlic, on the other hand, lol.

I can get the onion smell off my hands with baking soda but it stays under my nails for days no matter what I do.

Thirding the stainless steel! I'm a tap-rubber, too.
